The lockdown during the pandemic meant that babies, toddlers and their parents and carers were not able to meet in Gaelic toddler groups as they would normally. As well as missing out on socialising, they didn't have the opportunity to sing and play while learning and using the Gaelic language.
At the start of the restrictions we gained great experience and confidence in adapting our in-person sessions for our nursery and P1 groups into sharing musical fun on our new YouTube Channel. We recorded these for both our Gaelic and mainstream groups. This led us to receive funding for sharing wonderful Gaelic songs for toddlers, their parents and carers. Some of the songs are new, written especially for this project, some are traditional songs, led by the wonderful Carrie Afrin and Ellen Jack. These videos continue to be freely available on Artsplay Highland Youtube channel, when you click on Seinn air Liodhne. |
